A Community for
In-house Professionals

IP Insiders is a not-for-profit community built specifically for in-house IP practitioners — whether registered attorneys, IP managers, in-house lawyers, or business founders navigating the IP landscape. We exist to connect people who understand the realities of in-house practice, share knowledge that is grounded in commercial experience, and ensure the in-house profession has a voice in shaping the future of IP in Australia and New Zealand.

What We Do

Building a community through action, not just intention

IP Insiders pursues its mission across four areas of activity, each chosen because the in-house profession has long needed them, and none of them existed in a form built specifically for us.

Community & Connection

In-house IP practitioners are scattered across organisations large and small. IP Insiders brings them together, creating the critical mass needed for a profession to truly cohere. A place where shared experience generates real connection, and where members find peers who understand the work from the inside.

Knowledge & Education

From annual forums and webinars to a LinkedIn group that keeps members informed on relevant developments, IP Insiders is building a body of practical, commercially grounded knowledge. In time, this will grow to include workshops, newsletters, and a repository of resources members can actually use.

Advocacy & Representation

The in-house perspective has historically been absent from policy discussions that directly affect it. IP Insiders engages with government bodies and regulators, including IP Australia and TTIPAB, to ensure that perspective is heard. We have made formal submissions and will continue to do so.

Events Worth Attending

IP Insiders organises events specifically for in-house practitioners, substantive, well-structured, and designed around what the profession actually needs to learn and discuss. Our annual IP Insights Forum is now in its third year, and consistently praised for its depth and relevance.

Who We're For

A community for everyone who manages IP from within an organisation

IP Insiders is open to all in-house IP practitioners, regardless of formal qualifications or job title. If you work with IP from inside an organisation, this community is for you.

IP Legal Professionals

Patent attorneys, trade mark attorneys, and solicitors who advise and represent their organisations on IP matters. Often the sole legal voice on IP within their company, navigating the intersection of legal rigour and commercial pragmatism every day.

IP Professionals

IP managers, patent searchers, paralegals, and other professionals who are integral to how an organisation manages its IP portfolio. Highly skilled and deeply experienced, yet often underrepresented in a profession that has historically focused on formal registration.

Commercialisation Managers & Licensing Specialists

Professionals responsible for extracting commercial value from IP through licensing arrangements, joint ventures, technology transfer, and strategic partnerships. A discipline that sits at the intersection of IP, business strategy, and negotiation.

Business Founders & SME Owners

Founders and business owners who recognise that IP is a genuine asset, not just a legal formality. IP Insiders offers a community and a body of knowledge to help them understand, protect, and leverage what they have built.

Our Supporters

Supported by those who share our vision

IP Insiders is a not-for-profit organisation. The generosity of our supporters is what makes our work possible, and we are deeply grateful for it.

Phillips Ormonde Fitzpatrick

POF was the first organisation to believe in what IP Insiders was trying to build, stepping up when there was little to show beyond an idea and a conviction that the in-house profession deserved better. That early faith has grown into a partnership that now spans three consecutive annual forums. Their support has been consistent, genuine, and enormously valued.

Inventico

Inventico is a startup that understood, from its own experience, what it means to build something from nothing. When IP Insiders needed a website, Inventico stepped in with their expertise and simply made it happen. The generosity behind that act reflects exactly the kind of community spirit that IP Insiders itself aspires to foster. We are grateful for their continued support.

IP Insiders is always open to conversations with firms and organisations who share our commitment to a stronger, more connected in-house IP profession. Sponsorship and partnership with IP Insiders is an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the development of the profession while engaging with a community of highly skilled, commercially focused practitioners. If that resonates, we would love to hear from you.
